Wednesday is now spayed and retired. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic and bad luck, she never had any kittens. She was getting too old and was very seldom in heat, so we decided to retire her. She will now live the rest of her life as a happy, neutered pet ♥
Wednesday is our keeper from our Addams Family litter. She is our first keeper in 2 years, so we are very excited for her to be part of our breeding program. Since Sally had to be spayed after only one litter and Wednesday is the only offspring we got to keep from her, she is very precious to us. She is now all grown up, and has a lot of great qualities ♥ She lives with her brother in a host family, and goes by the name Luna in her new home.
Wednesday's eye color is better than her mother Sally's, and she is slightly bigger than her mom, which is a step in the right direction. She also has perfect markings with no spots and no excess white. I would have wanted more width in the head, and especially the muzzle, but that can easily be compensated for by mating her with a nice broad stud. Her temper is a dream come true and she really is a special little doll. She is a typical covid-baby and due to little contact with other humans than her closest family in her first year, has become a little timid towards strangers. Since her temper was so amazing as a kitten, we are not worried about this in her future offspring. The plan was for her to have two litters, but the covid-19 pandemic has put some obstacles in the way, and she is already over 2 years old and has never had kittens, so time will tell what's in store for her. We finally have a suitable boy for her, so hopefully we will finally see some babies from her later in 2022.
Wednesday lives with her lovely host parents Karina and Emil in Bærum. Thank you for taking such good care of our girl ♥
NB: When reading Wednesday's DNA-results, you can see that she is all clear except for one "notable" factor. She is completely healthy, but is a carrier of gene that can cause a rare, mild form of factor XII deficiency (associated with blood clotting). Wednesday is only a carrier with 1 copy, and as far as we know, this gene is not known to have manifested as illness in ragdolls. We do, however, intend to breed this gene completely out and only mate her with non-carriers. We are happy to discover that Duval is not a carrier, which means that he can safely be mated with Wednesday. She has a quite high genetic diversity (low inbreeding), which is a rare and desirable trait in ragdolls, so we don't want to lose this precious line because of a gene that is easy to get rid of. We will be DNA-testing all offspring intended for breeding, and only pick non-carriers as keepers. That way we will get rid of this gene in the next generation.
